Nomad Tiers

Choose the Nomad tier that fits your build. Every tier runs the same Sensa dashboard, gets over-the-air updates under the Support Plan, and works fully offline, with no cloud account or internet connection required to control your van. What changes between tiers is the depth of integration, the intelligence layered on top, and the hardware that powers it.

Four tiers, one platform

BASE: a complete van control system

The foundation. Base is everything most builds need to manage power, lighting, water, climate, networking and safety from a single dashboard. It integrates with Victron’s full electrical stack, controls relays over WiFi and PoE, talks to Starlink and Teltonika routers, and gives you remote access to your van from anywhere. It runs on a Raspberry Pi 5. If you’re building a self-converted campervan and want a serious control system without paying for features you won’t use, Base is the answer.

PRO: for builds that want richer awareness

Base plus a layer of environmental intelligence. Sensa Nomad Pro adds temperature and humidity monitoring, human presence detection, and managed network control via Teltonika’s advanced features. Like Base, it runs on a Raspberry Pi 5. Choose Pro if your build is more ambitious: a fixed install in a larger motorhome, an off-grid build that needs full sensor coverage, or a van that is lived in often enough to justify the extra awareness.

VISION: for builds where the vehicle itself is serious kit

Everything in Pro, plus the features that turn the van into a connected, intelligent vehicle. Sensa Nomad Vision adds AI-powered CCTV that recognises your household, and hands-free speech control of the van. Vision is for owners of self-builds, expedition trucks, vanlife and high-end conversions where the vehicle is worth defending and the system is worth taking seriously. It runs on a Mini PC with a dedicated AI accelerator, so every bit of the camera analysis happens on board and nothing is sent to the cloud.

AI: for builds that want to talk to the van

Everything in Vision, on hardware sized for conversation. Vision takes spoken commands; AI holds a conversation, so you can ask the van questions and get a spoken answer rather than triggering a fixed action. It runs on a high-performance Mini PC whose processor has the AI engine built in, and like every other tier it runs entirely on board. At £1999 it is the top of the range.

What every tier includes

These foundations are in every Nomad tier, regardless of which you choose:

• Sensa dashboard: unified interface across phone, tablet and web
• Nomad Scenes: scene-based control for arriving, sleeping, leaving, driving and more
• Remote access: check on your van from anywhere; no static IP or port forwarding required
• Over-the-air updates: optional, opt-in, delivered and applied for you under the Support Plan
• Works fully offline: no cloud account, no internet required for Nomad to function. Internet is required for software updates and navigation

Remote access, remote support, cloud backups, software updates and Radar Premium licences are carried by the Sensa Nomad Support Plan. The first year is included in the price of every tier; after that it renews annually and renewing is optional. Nothing that runs inside the van depends on it: a system whose plan has lapsed carries on exactly as before, on the version it is running.

Advanced Networking

Support for Teltonika managed switches are included in Pro offering power on/off on a per port basis for PoE devices. Ideal for switching CCTV cameras on and off to save power when not in use.

Advanced Heater Support

Additional heaters are included in Pro tier.

Air Conditioning

Fixed air conditioning units are included in Pro and upward.

OBD2 vehicle diagnostics

Pro is the only system in its class that bridges the chassis side of the vehicle with the habitation side. Read engine fault codes, AdBlue and DPF status, coolant temperature, fuel level and mileage directly into the Sensa dashboard. Get pre-trip readiness checks before a long tour, automatic service-interval prediction based on actual miles, and theft alerts triggered by engine start when the van is in away mode.

AI-powered CCTV and security

Connect IP cameras to your Nomad and let Vision watch over the vehicle when you’re not there. On-device AI classifies what triggered an alert as a person, an animal or a vehicle, so you’re notified only when it matters.

Vision learns the faces of the people you enrol: you, your family, anyone you trust with the van. It then tells you when someone it does not recognise is at the vehicle. Only the people you choose are ever enrolled, and every face stays on the Nomad in your van. All analysis runs locally; nothing is sent to the cloud unless you choose to enable optional remote alerts.

Speech control

Say what you want and the van does it. “We’re parking up for the night” runs a whole scene of behaviours; “turn the heating up” does exactly that. Speech runs on-device for privacy, so there is no Alexa, no Google, and no audio leaves the van.

Vision takes commands. If you want to ask the van questions and get spoken answers back, that is the AI tier.

AI-exclusive capabilities

Natural conversation

AI adds a language model running on the Nomad itself, so the van answers rather than just obeys. “How’s the leisure battery doing?” gets a spoken reply. “Have we got enough water to stay another night?” gets a considered one. You do not have to learn the phrasing, because it understands what you meant rather than matching a fixed command.

Like everything else in Nomad, it runs on board. Nothing is sent to a cloud service, nothing is recorded elsewhere, and it keeps working with no signal at all.
