These terms apply to Sensa Radar only. Our other products are covered separately: the Sensa Control Terms for a Nomad or Helm system, the Sensa Studio Terms for Studio, the MySensa Terms for your account, and the Terms of Sale when you buy from our shop. How we handle your personal data is covered by our Privacy Policy, which forms part of this agreement.
The short version
This summary is here so you know what you are agreeing to. It is not part of the agreement and the numbered clauses below are what count.
- Radar tells you what is nearby and helps you plan a route. It is an aid to your own judgment, not a substitute for road signs, your own eyes, or the law where you are driving.
- Most of the information in Radar comes from other people’s data: governments, OpenStreetMap, other travellers. We do not survey any of it ourselves, and some of it will be wrong or out of date.
- A low bridge, a weight limit or a width restriction that Radar does not know about still exists. Never drive somewhere because Radar routed you there. Drive it because you have looked at the signs.
- Radar is free. Radar Premium is a paid subscription, and every Nomad system comes with Premium through the Sensa Nomad Support Plan (one on Base, two on Pro, two on Vision and two on AI).
- If you contribute a place, a review or a photo, you keep it, but you let us publish it in Radar.
- We do not try to escape responsibility for anything the law says we cannot escape, including death or personal injury caused by our negligence. What we do limit is set out in clause 13, and you should read that clause properly.

1. Who we are, and how to contact us
1.1 Sensa Radar is operated by Sensa Systems Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 16958196. Our VAT number is GB513010854. In these terms, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Sensa Systems Ltd, and “you” means the person using Radar.
1.2 You can contact us at [email protected] or on 0330 223 7715. If we need to contact you, we will use the email address on your Sensa account.
1.3 “Radar” in these terms means the Sensa Radar web app at radar.sensa.systems, the Radar mobile apps when they are released, the Radar view built into a Sensa Nomad system, and the underlying service that supplies all three.
2. These terms
2.1 Using Radar means accepting these terms. You do not have to have an account to use parts of Radar, and you do not have to sign anything. Using it is your acceptance. If you do not accept these terms, please do not use Radar.
2.2 You must be 16 or over to hold a Sensa account or to contribute to the community map. You must be 18 or over to buy a Radar Premium subscription. If you are under 16, you may use Radar with the involvement of a parent or guardian, on their account.
2.3 We may change these terms. If the change is minor, such as a clarification or a correction, we will simply update this page and the date at the foot of it. If the change materially affects your rights, and you hold a paid Radar Premium subscription, we will tell you by email at least 30 days before it takes effect, and you may cancel your subscription before then and receive a refund of any part you have paid for and not used.
2.4 If any clause of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest of them continue to apply.
3. What Radar is, and what it is not
3.1 Radar shows you amenities and hazards near a location, and plans routes between places. It is designed for people travelling in vehicles, including large and heavy ones.
3.2 Radar is an aid to your own judgment. It is not a navigation authority, a survey, a legal opinion, or an emergency service. You remain fully responsible for how you drive, where you drive, where you stop and where you stay.
3.3 Road signs and the law of the country you are in always take priority over anything Radar shows you. This matters most in three places, and we would rather say it plainly than bury it:
- Height, width, weight and other restrictions. Radar’s vehicle-aware routing tries to avoid restrictions it knows about. It does not know about all of them. A restriction missing from our data is still there on the road, and a route that avoids nothing may mean the road is clear or may mean we hold no data for it. Read the signs.
- Overnight stops. A place appearing in Radar, including one contributed by another traveller, is not permission to stay there. Whether you may park or stay overnight somewhere is a matter of local law, local signage and the landowner’s wishes, all of which change and none of which we can guarantee.
- Emergencies. Radar’s flood, fire and hazard layers are informational and can be delayed, incomplete or stale. In an emergency, contact the emergency services and follow the official warnings for the country you are in. Never rely on Radar to tell you that you are safe.
3.4 Route planning does not cover everywhere. At the time of writing, route planning (including vehicle-aware routing) covers Great Britain only. Finding places works worldwide. What is covered changes as we build countries in, and the current position is published on our Radar plans page.
4. Your account
4.1 Radar uses your Sensa account, which is the same account as the rest of our products. Accounts are managed for us by Microsoft Entra External ID, and we never see or hold your password.
4.2 You are responsible for keeping access to your account secure and for anything done through it. Tell us promptly at [email protected] if you think someone else is using it.
4.3 An account is for one person. Do not share it. A Sensa Nomad system signs in on the vehicle’s licence rather than on a person, which is a separate route into Radar and is covered by the licence terms for that system.
4.4 You can ask us to close your Radar account at any time by emailing us. What we do with your data when you do is set out in the Privacy Policy.
5. Radar Free and Radar Premium
5.1 Radar Free costs nothing and is supplied free of charge. Clause 13.6 explains what that means for our responsibility to you.
5.2 Radar Premium is a paid subscription costing £3.95 per month or £24.95 per year, including VAT. What it adds is listed on the Radar plans page. At the time of writing that is the richer map, vehicle-aware routing and hazard matching, offline maps on mobile when they are released, and a higher saved-place limit (1,000 instead of 100).
5.3 Premium comes with every Sensa Nomad system, as Premium licences supplied through the Sensa Nomad Support Plan. The number of licences depends on the Nomad tier the plan covers: one on Base, two on Pro, two on Vision and two on AI. Each licence covers one person in your household. The first year of the Support Plan is included in the price of the Nomad system; after that the plan renews annually and renewing is optional. If you hold Premium this way rather than by paying us for it directly, your Premium lasts as long as the Support Plan covering you is in force, and clauses 5.4 to 5.7 do not apply to you. If the plan lapses, clause 5.8 applies.
5.3a Your 7-day free trial. A new Premium subscription starts with a free trial lasting 7 days. All of the following applies to it:
- We take your card details when you start the trial, and we do not charge you during it.
- Your first payment is taken at the end of the trial, at the price in clause 5.2 for whichever period you chose, and the subscription then continues as clause 5.4 describes.
- We will email you 2 days before the trial ends, telling you the date and the amount, so the first payment is never a surprise.
- If you cancel before the trial ends, you are not charged at all. You keep Premium until the trial ends either way, so cancelling early costs you nothing.
- Cancelling is a single action in your Sensa account, at any time, and is not conditional on contacting us.
- One free trial per Sensa account. If you have had one before, a new subscription starts as a paid one immediately, and we tell you that before you confirm.
Your rights under clause 5.6 are in addition to this trial and are not replaced by it.
5.4 Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each month or year until you cancel. We take payment through Stripe; we never see or hold your card details.
5.5 Cancelling. You can cancel at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for, and Premium continues until then. We do not refund part-used periods except where clause 5.6 or the law requires it.
5.6 Your 14-day cancellation right. If you are a consumer, you have a legal right to change your mind within 14 days of taking out a subscription and receive a refund. If you asked us to start Premium immediately, which happens as soon as you use a Premium feature, we may deduct a proportionate amount for the part of the period you have already had. This right does not apply to renewals, only to a new subscription. Where a subscription began with a free trial under clause 5.3a, nothing has been paid during the trial, so there is nothing to refund for that period.
To use this right, tell us clearly that you want to cancel: cancel in your Sensa account, use the one-click link in the email we sent when the subscription started, or email us at [email protected]. You may use the model cancellation form at the end of these terms if you prefer, but you do not have to.
5.7 Price changes. We may change the price of Premium. We will tell you at least 30 days before a change affects you, and you may cancel before it takes effect.
5.8 If Premium ends, whether because you cancelled, a payment failed, or a Nomad Support Plan was not renewed:
- Premium features stop, and your saved places above the free limit become read-only rather than being deleted.
- Offline map packs you have already downloaded stay usable. They lock rather than vanish. You will not be able to download or refresh packs until Premium resumes.
- You can still export and delete your own data at any time, on any plan, free of charge. Getting your data out and erasing it are your legal rights and we will never put them behind a payment.
5.9 Earned Premium. Contributors to the community map can earn a month of Premium, as described in clause 7.7. Earned Premium is a gift, not a purchase, and clauses 5.3a and 5.4 to 5.7 do not apply to it.
6. The accuracy of what Radar shows you
6.1 Most of Radar’s information is not ours. It comes from government open data, from OpenStreetMap, from other published datasets, and from other travellers. We select and combine those sources, we do not survey the world ourselves, and we cannot verify what they tell us.
6.2 We do not warrant that anything in Radar is accurate, complete or current. We take reasonable care in choosing our sources, in importing them and in showing you where each piece of information came from, but the underlying facts are outside our control and some of them will be wrong. In particular:
| What you see | What it actually is |
|---|---|
| Fuel prices | The price a retailer last reported to a government scheme, refreshed as often as that scheme publishes. It can be stale, and it can be wrong at the pump. |
| Hazards, low bridges, weight and width limits | Restrictions recorded in OpenStreetMap and in national road datasets. Not a complete record of the restrictions on any road. |
| Roadworks, closures and road events | Planning and live feeds published by national road authorities. Some are plans that may not happen. Coverage can be partial: in France, for example, the national feed covers the non-toll network only, so a quiet toll motorway is a gap in the data and not an all-clear. |
| Active fires | Satellite thermal readings. They cannot tell a wildfire from a steelworks, they are hours old by the time they reach us, and a fire can exist without appearing. |
| Flood warnings | Official warnings, republished. Always check the issuing authority’s own service in an emergency. |
| Clean air zones | Official zone boundaries and the sticker classes that apply. Whether your particular vehicle may enter is a matter for the scheme operator, not for us. |
| Food hygiene ratings | The rating recorded at the last inspection, which may be a long time ago. |
| Opening hours, facilities and prices at a place | Usually from OpenStreetMap or from another traveller. Frequently out of date. Phone ahead if it matters. |
| Community places, reviews and photos | One traveller’s account of one visit. See clause 7. |
6.3 Coverage is uneven and changes. Which countries have map data loaded, which have live fuel prices, and where route planning works are all listed on the Radar plans page and in the app’s own Data Sources panel. An empty map is more often a gap in coverage than an absence of places.
6.4 If you find something wrong, please tell us, either through the app’s own reporting tools or at [email protected]. Where the error is in someone else’s dataset we will usually have to report it upstream, and we cannot promise how quickly it will be fixed.
7. Community contributions
7.1 If you submit a place, a review, a photo, a confirmation or a report to Radar, this clause applies. Contributions require an account.
7.2 You keep ownership of what you contribute. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual and irrevocable licence to store, reproduce, adapt (for formatting, moderation and translation), publish and distribute your contribution as part of Radar, and to allow Radar’s users to view and download it, including inside offline map packs. This licence is irrevocable because once a contribution has been published and downloaded by other people we cannot recall those copies.
7.3 What you promise us. By contributing, you confirm that:
- it is yours to give, and publishing it does not infringe anyone else’s rights;
- it is accurate to the best of your knowledge;
- it does not identify or expose another person without their consent, and any recognisable person in a photo has agreed to it being published;
- it is not unlawful, defamatory, abusive, deceptive or a covert advertisement.
7.4 Nothing is published until a moderator approves it. We are not obliged to publish anything, and we may reject or remove any contribution, with or without a reason. Photos we reject are deleted rather than kept.
7.5 We do not verify contributions. Approval means a moderator thought it plausible and appropriate, not that we have checked that the place exists, that it is open, or that you may lawfully stay there. Clause 3.3 applies with full force to community places.
7.6 Removal. You can ask us to remove a contribution at any time and we will remove it from the public map. Copies already downloaded into other people’s offline packs are beyond our reach, and your contribution may remain in our internal records where we need it for moderation or audit.
7.7 Contribution rewards. Approved contributions can earn a month of Radar Premium. The threshold and the mechanics are ours to set and to change, rewards are never exchangeable for money, and we may withhold them where we believe contributions were made to game the scheme.
7.8 Photos. We strip location, device and timestamp metadata from every photo before publishing it, because a phone photo can otherwise pin a quiet spot to the metre. That is a deliberate protection and not a guarantee about what a photograph itself may reveal. Think before photographing something you would not want located precisely.
8. Acceptable use
8.1 You may use Radar for your own personal travel, and, if you run a vehicle-related business, for that business’s own journeys.
8.2 You must not:
- extract, copy or harvest Radar’s data in bulk, by scraping, by automated querying, or by any means other than the app’s own features;
- access the Radar API by anything other than the Radar apps or our published embedding interface, or exceed any rate limit we set;
- republish, resell or redistribute the data Radar assembles, or use it to build a competing dataset or service;
- reverse engineer, decompile or attempt to derive the source of any part of Radar, except to the extent the law expressly permits;
- interfere with the service, probe it for vulnerabilities without our written agreement, or attempt to gain access to another user’s account or data;
- use Radar, or anything obtained from it, to track, locate or monitor another person without their knowledge and consent;
- use Radar for anything unlawful, or in a way that puts us in breach of a licence we hold for the data described in clause 9.
8.3 If you believe you have found a security vulnerability, please report it to [email protected] rather than testing it further. We will not pursue anyone who reports a genuine issue responsibly and privately.
8.4 We may suspend or restrict access, temporarily or permanently, where we reasonably believe this clause has been broken, or where a pattern of automated use threatens the service or our data licences.
9. Data we license from other people
9.1 Radar combines data from many publishers. Each source, its publisher and its licence is listed in the app’s own Data Sources panel, which is generated from Radar’s live source registry rather than typed in by hand.
9.2 Those licences flow through to you. Several of them carry conditions, and by using Radar you agree to observe them. In particular:
- OpenStreetMap data is published under the Open Database Licence (ODbL), which requires attribution and, if you produce and publish a derived database, that you share it alike.
- Several government sources are published under the Open Government Licence, France’s Licence Ouverte, or Creative Commons Attribution licences, all of which require attribution.
- Some sources are proprietary and are licensed to us, not to you. Google Places and Google Map Tiles are the clearest example: their terms forbid caching or redistribution, which is why they never appear in an offline pack and may not be extracted from Radar.
9.3 We may add, change or drop a source at any time, including where a publisher changes its terms or withdraws access. Losing a source is not a breach of these terms by us.
10. Availability, and changes to Radar
10.1 We aim to keep Radar available and working, and we will use reasonable skill and care in providing it, but we do not promise that it will be uninterrupted or error-free. It depends on third-party services, on data feeds outside our control, and on your own connection, which in a vehicle is frequently the weakest part.
10.2 We may suspend Radar for maintenance, and we will try to give notice where we can.
10.3 We may change Radar, including adding, altering or withdrawing features. Where a change materially reduces what a paid Premium subscription gives you, clause 2.3 applies and you may cancel and be refunded for the unused part.
10.4 We may withdraw Radar altogether. If we do, we will give at least 30 days’ notice to anyone holding a paid subscription, refund the unused part, and give you a reasonable period to export your saved data first.
11. Ending this agreement
11.1 You can stop using Radar at any time, and can close your account as described in clause 4.4.
11.2 We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if we are required to by law, or if we reasonably believe your use puts other users, our data licences or the service at risk. Where it is practical and lawful to do so we will tell you why and give you a chance to put it right first. If we close a paid subscription for a reason that is not your fault, we will refund the unused part.
11.3 Clauses 7.2, 9, 12, 13, 15 and 16 survive the end of this agreement.
12. Our intellectual property
12.1 Radar itself, including its software, design, branding and the way it assembles and presents data, belongs to us or to our licensors. Nothing in these terms transfers any of it to you.
12.2 You get a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use Radar in accordance with these terms. That is all.
12.3 “Sensa”, “Sensa Radar” and “Sensa Nomad” are our marks. Do not use them without our written agreement, except to refer to us honestly.
13. Our responsibility for loss or damage
Please read this clause carefully.
13.1 We do not exclude, and nothing in these terms limits, our liability for:
- death or personal injury caused by our negligence;
- fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;
- any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under the law that applies to you, including, if you are a UK consumer, your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 that digital content and services be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described;
- damage to your device or to your other digital content caused by our digital content, where the Consumer Rights Act 2015 makes us responsible for repairing it or compensating you.
13.2 If you are a consumer, we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss or damage that is not foreseeable. Loss or damage is foreseeable if it is obvious that it will happen, or if both you and we knew when you started using Radar that it might happen.
13.3 Information supplied by others. Radar’s value is that it collects other people’s data into one place. We are responsible for describing that data honestly, for choosing our sources with reasonable care, and for reproducing them faithfully. We are not responsible for the accuracy of the underlying data itself, or for loss you suffer because a fact published by a government, by OpenStreetMap or by another traveller turned out to be wrong, incomplete or out of date. Clause 6 explains what each kind of information really is.
13.4 Your own judgment on the road. Subject to clause 13.1, we are not responsible for loss or damage arising from a decision you took while driving, parking or staying somewhere, where a road sign, a physical restriction, a marking, a barrier or the applicable law told you something different from what Radar showed you. Clause 3.3 is the substance of this: Radar informs your judgment and does not replace it.
13.5 Business use. If you use Radar for any commercial purpose, we exclude, to the fullest extent the law allows, all liability for loss of profit, loss of business, business interruption, loss of contracts, loss of anticipated savings, loss of goodwill, and any indirect or consequential loss. In that case our total liability to you for all claims connected with Radar is limited to the greater of the fees you paid us for Radar in the 12 months before the claim arose, or £100.
13.6 Radar Free. Radar Free is supplied free of charge. To the fullest extent the law allows, and subject always to clause 13.1, we accept no liability to users of Radar Free beyond the non-excludable matters listed in clause 13.1.
13.7 Overall cap for paid subscribers. Subject to clauses 13.1 and 13.5, our total liability to you for all claims connected with Radar in any 12-month period is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for Radar Premium in that period, or £100. Where Premium reached you through a Nomad licence rather than a payment for Radar, the amount you paid us for Radar is nil, and the £100 figure applies.
13.8 We are not responsible for failures caused by events outside our reasonable control, including failures of the internet, of a data publisher, of a hosting or payment provider, or of your own equipment or connection.
14. Complaints
14.1 If something has gone wrong, email us at [email protected] and tell us what happened. We will acknowledge within five working days and try to resolve it within 30 days.
14.2 If you are a consumer and we cannot resolve it between us, nothing in these terms stops you taking the matter to court, or using an alternative dispute resolution service if one is available to you.
15. General
15.1 These terms, together with our Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between you and us about Radar. If you hold a Sensa Nomad licence, that licence has its own terms which govern the licence itself.
15.2 We may transfer our rights and obligations under these terms to another organisation, for example if the business is sold. We will tell you if this happens, and if it disadvantages you, you may cancel a paid subscription and be refunded the unused part. You may not transfer your rights to anyone else without our written agreement.
15.3 This agreement is between you and us. Nobody else has any right to enforce it.
15.4 If we delay enforcing a term, or do not enforce it, that does not stop us doing so later.
16. Which law applies, and where you can bring a claim
16.1 These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes may be brought in the courts of England and Wales.
16.2 If you are a consumer living elsewhere in the United Kingdom, you may also bring proceedings in the courts of Scotland or Northern Ireland, as applicable.
16.3 If you are a consumer living outside the United Kingdom, clause 16.1 does not deprive you of the protection given to you by the mandatory consumer law of the country you live in, and you may bring proceedings in your local courts.
Appendix: model cancellation form
You do not have to use this form. Clause 5.6 lists easier ways to cancel, and any clear statement that you want to cancel is enough. It is reproduced here because the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 require us to make it available to you, and because some people would rather use the wording the law itself sets out.
Complete and return this form only if you wish to withdraw from the contract.
